The Student Philanthropy Project was launched at Grove City College to provide an opportunity to help fulfill The College's mission to encourage students the development of moral character shaped by Christian principles who are prepared to serve as responsible citizens and leaders of society. By integrating philanthropy into the classroom, giving students a forum for hands-on experience in researching and supporting non-profit service organizations, the Project helps students learn how to be engaged citizens and to understand the important role philanthropy plays in the health of local communities. In 2008 $4,000 dollars contributed to Grove City College for this purpose was awarded in three grants of $2,000, $1,000, and $1,000 respectively. Students planned and hosted an award ceremony for the three finalists selected through the class project. |
